The Term Transgender

Def Transgender was originally defined as an opposition to Transexual. It meant a rejection of the Gender Binary. Activists and academics turned it into an umbrella term for all Gender Variance, but according Riki Wilchins it has increasingly come to mean Transexual.

I am struggling with the term right now. I feel that Gender Nonconforming males like me are made invisible by Transexual Identity Politics. Trans and Transgender have come to mean Transexual in the queer San Francisco Trans Scene.
